No. Whether you already have a Rack It 400KG shelving unit at home, or you’re a first-time customer purchasing Rack It 600KG today, the product itself has not changed. The materials, design and construction remain the same.
Rack It 400KG to Rack It 600KG – What’s changed?
As new Rack It shelving arrive in Bunnings stores you may notice a name change across our range.
Our previously named Rack It 400KG range is now called Rack It 600KG - same product, same look, but a heavier-duty name and a product that has been load tested to a higher capacity.
So, what does this mean for you? We’ve put together a few of our most frequently asked questions in hopes to give you all the information you need so you can ‘add to cart’ and get storing (a little bit more weight) asap, with confidence!
Has the product changed to make it able to hold 600kg now?
Why was it sold as 400KG before if it can hold 600KG now?
Rack It has always met and exceeded stringent testing standards. During further testing, the shelving consistently performed above the original 400kg load rating. The product range has now been renamed to better reflect its verified performance, providing clearer guidance and confidence for customers.
Can my existing Rack It 400KG system now hold 600KG?
No. While the product has been tested beyond 400kg, loading beyond the rated capacity is not recommended. Existing Rack It 400KG shelving should continue to be used within its original 400kg per shelf load rating, with weight evenly distributed. Always follow the product safety and load rating guidelines.
Can my existing 400KG system be extended with new 600KG components to create more bays of Rack It storage?
Yes. There has been no design or structural change to the range, so Rack It 400KG and Rack It 600KG components are fully compatible.
Shelves built with 400KG Uprights and components will be rated to a maximum load rating of 400kg per shelf, evenly distributed. Shelves with only 600KG components will be rated to a maximum load rating of 600kg per shelf, evenly distributed. If you mix components from both ranges to make one Shelf, the lowest load rating applies.
